Chuck Colbert

An original member of “American Breed”

The Chicago band the American Breed, which had a hit in 1968 with the oldies-radio staple “Bend Me, Shape Me.”

The American Breed was an American interracial rock band that was formed in 1966 and disbanded in 1969.

The original members included.

Gary Loizzo – vocals
Charles “Chuck” Colbert, Jr. – bass guitar
Al Ciner – guitar
Lee Graziano – drums
Kevin Murphy – keyboards
Andre Fischer – drums.

All members were from the greater Chicago area. Known as “Gary and The Nite Lites”, they were some-what successful in Chicago and released one single.

The band enjoyed its greatest success in 1967 and 1968. They released five singles that reached the charts, including “Step Out Of Your Mind”, “Green Light” and “Bend Me, Shape Me”.
